SaskPower will provide an Indigenous New Home Program to support the construction of energy efficient residential buildings for new, electrically heated, Indigenous owned homes in Saskatchewan. This program will enable eligible First Nations communities and/or homeowners (the participant) to build or have their new homes built beyond the current Tier 2 baseline standard to a Tier 3 or higher building code standard according to the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings (NEBC) 2020. The participants in the program will be able to utilize the new home construction processes, practices, and third-party service organizations (SO) of their choice and SaskPower will provide financial support for the energy efficient upgrades and third-party technical support to have homes built to a higher standard and have the work verified.
