The Contractor shall provide the necessary machinery, tools, apparatus, other means of construction, and all materials and labor specified in the Contract Documents or as necessary to complete the installation or repair sidewalks and ADA ramps as designated within this contract. The purpose of this project is to provide pedestrian safety by the installation of sidewalk on a portion of the Peachtree Boulevard access road in the City limits of Doraville. The proposed sidewalk will tie into existing sidewalks at Tilly Mill Road, as well as sidewalks to be completed by the Towns at Creekside townhome development, which is currently under construction. Project Scope shall include the following: Sidewalk and ADA ramp installation o Removal and proper disposal of existing sidewalk, curb, and non-compliant ramps. o Forming and pouring of a new 4-foot sidewalk on Peachtree Boulevard. o Forming and pouring of ADA ramps as per current ADA standards and specification and as per Georgia Department of Transportation Special Detail A3, Concrete Sidewalk Details Curb Cut (Wheelchair)Ramps. Ramps to be poured at standard 5' width and tapered into existing sidewalk if existing sidewalk is narrower o Placement of ADA Detectable Warning Devises (Mats) within ramp as per current standards. Color of Mats to be as specified by City of Doraville o Backfill of soil around replacement section and replacement of sod. Project Scope shall also include the following: 1. All concrete shall be 3,000 psi at 28 days unless GDOT specifications for a similar GDOT pay item specifies a higher strength. 2. All sidewalks and ramps to be a minimum thickness of 4" except within the limits of a street radius where it shall be a minimum thickness of 8". 3. All compactions shall be 95% of the maximum density at the optimum moisture content. 4. All improvements to be in conformance to Georgia Department of Transportation Standards and Specification as stated. 5. Grassing inside the construction area and construction access areas are considered to be part of the Scope of Work, whether there is a specific pay item or not. Grassing in these areas shall be accomplished with Bermuda rolled sod, cut/harvested the day of or the day before installation. 6. Erosion and Sediment Control BMPs are incidental to the Scope of Work and shall be installed per the GSWCC Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia, latest edition (Green Book). Illicit discharges of sediments or other pollutants will not be allowed. The Successful Bidder shall also be required to furnish a Maintenance Bond, in the amount of one-third (1/3) of the contract price, guaranteeing the repair or replacement caused by defective workmanship or materials for a period of one (1) year from the completion of construction.
