The Virginia Department of Forestry (DOF) is seeking a contractor who has working experience and knowledge in site prep, tree planting and tree maintenance. Planting will take place at Waid Park owned by Franklin County. Bidders must have at least five (5) years' experience completing site prep for tree planting, installing tubelings and bareroot seedlings and tree maintenance specified in this contract, as evidenced by the references indicated on the Vendor Data Sheet. Work Location: Waid Park, Franklin County, Virginia. Please see photos and scope of work for site details, maps, planting plans and species lists. Planting will take place on 5 sections encompassing 31.6 acres. Sections 1, 2 and 7 will be a 50/50 mix of hardwood and shortleaf pine. Sections 3 and 4 will be all Shortleaf Pine. The Contractor must contact Contract Administrator, Bill Sweeney, 4 days prior to the commencement of any work. The Contract Administrator will facilitate communication between Contractor and county property managers. Access to property will be prohibited until Contract Administrator is notified. DOF staff reserves the right to be onsite for the duration of the project and may stop work at any point of time if unsatisfactory. Timeline: Site Prep and tree planting may commence on or after January 22, 2025, and completed by April 10, 2025. If the soil is frozen planting cannot begin until conditions improve. Weather related delays should be negotiated with the DOF Contract Administrator.
