The Town of Rocky Mount is soliciting competitive sealed bids from qualified providers for installation of approximately eight hundred (800) linear feet of concrete sidewalk running east to west along the west bound lanes of Tanyard Road and ending at the intersection of Pell Avenue in front of Franklin County High School. The new sidewalk will run from the end of the newly constructed sidewalk in front of the Bank of Botetourt located at 875 Tanyard Road west to the Pell Avenue intersection, including the center island on Pell. Specs for the project include: - The length of the sidewalk is approximately eight hundred (800) feet. - The width of the sidewalk shall be a minimum of five (5) feet. - The depth of the sidewalk shall be a minimum of four (4) inches and meet Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) A3 graded concrete. - The interior of the existing curbed triangle island at Pell Avenue is grass. All grass is to be removed and replaced with concrete and detectable warning surfaces installed. - The existing ramp on the west end of the Pell Avenue intersection will need to be replaced and detectable warning surfaces installed. - Detectable warning surfaces will be placed at all other ramp areas. - The disturbed area around the newly installed sidewalk will be backfilled and reseeded as needed. - Wayfinding sign located Pell Avenue to be relocated in consultation with the Town. - A flagging plan will be necessary for this project. Since the location of this sidewalk is largely in front of Franklin County High School, all work must be completed before school begins on August 21, 2025. The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids submitted, and to waive any informality in the proposals. The right is also reserved to award the contract where it appears to be in the best interest of and best interest to the Town. The Town reserves the right to revise or amend this IFB prior to the date set for receipt of the proposals. The date set for receipt of proposals may be changed if deemed necessary by the Town. Any revisions and/or amendments will be in the form of an addendum to this IFB. The Town reserves the right to award a contract by individual items, in the aggregate, or in combination thereof, or to reject any or all bids received whenever such a rejection or waiver is in the best interest of the Town.
