Site work for a sidewalk / parking lot in Kennesaw, Georgia. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot.
Request for Quotes (eRFQ) is being issued to establish a contract with one or more qualified supplier(s) who will provide KSU - Bus Shelters to Kennesaw State University (hereinafter, the State Entity) as further described in this eRFQ. The Department of Parking and Transportation at KSU is the requesting unit and will be the primary point of contact for the awarded bidder(s) once a contract has been awarded and executed. The addition of new bus waiting shelters, along with replacement of one or more current shelter(s), is being conducted in order to align the campus with the University's Pedestrian Project goals. By installing new shelters for waiting pedestrians and others, the University supports these goals by encouraging the use of its campus transportation options and thus reducing the need for individual car commuting while promoting a more environmentally friendly mode of travel. Additionally, sheltered waiting stations for buses enhance campus safety by reducing exposure to adverse weather conditions and creating a well-lit, monitored space. The primary objective of this project is to provide functional, durable, and aesthetically appropriate bus shelters for the campus community. The shelters must meet all safety and design specifications and be installed in accordance with the campus planning requirements. Scope of Work The installation of new bus shelters on the campuses of KSU include the removal and disposal of existing shelters, site preparation, delivery or construction of new bus shelters, and installation of two types of shelters: 4-foot by 10-foot and 7-foot by 14-foot (specifications included in Mandatory Questions document attached to this RFQ). The work should be performed in collaboration with the Department of Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC), ensuring compliance with all relevant campus standards and regulations. The following tasks must be completed as part of the project: 1. Removal and Disposal of Existing Bus Shelters Task Description: The contractor shall remove and dispose of any existing bus shelters currently located on the campus. Requirements: Disassemble existing structures safely and ensure no damage to surrounding areas. Properly dispose of all materials, including metal, glass, plastic, or any other debris. The contractor is responsible for transporting all debris to an approved disposal site. Verify with the Department of Planning, Design, and Construction (PDC) to ensure that all required permits and environmental regulations are followed during the removal process. 2. Site Preparation Task Description: Prepare the sites for the installation of new bus shelters, which includes excavation, leveling, and concrete work. Requirements: Excavation: Excavate the designated shelter locations to the required depth, ensuring proper drainage and foundation stability. Leveling: Ensure that the site is level and suitable for shelter installation. Concrete Work: Pour and finish concrete pads for shelter foundations (per shelter size specifications), ensuring the concrete is adequately cured before shelter installation. The contractor shall collaborate with PDC to confirm that all design specifications and campus guidelines are followed, including any accessibility requirements (e.g., ADA compliance). Description 3. Shelter Specifications Task Description: Install two types of bus shelters: 4-foot by 10-foot and 7-foot by 14-foot. These shelters must be of durable materials, safe, and weather-resistant. Shelter Design: The shelters should meet the following basic requirements: 4' x 10' Shelter: Dimensions: 4 feet wide by 10 feet long. Materials: Heavy-duty steel frame, tempered glass panels, and a weather-resistant roof. Seating: Provide seating, either bench-style or other ADA-compliant seating options, as per the approved design. Additional Features: Integrated lighting, waste disposal bins, and signage as specified. 7' x 14' Shelter: Dimensions: 7 feet wide by 14 feet long. Materials: Heavy-duty steel frame, tempered glass panels, and a weather-resistant roof. Seating: Provide seating options appropriate for the increased size, ensuring ADA compliance. Additional Features: Enhanced lighting, signage, and waste disposal bins as specified. General Shelter Requirements: Durable materials that can withstand harsh weather conditions. Compliance with campus aesthetic and sustainability standards. Incorporate signage to indicate the bus route, including space for future updates or digital displays. 4. Installation Process Task Description: Install the shelters according to the specifications and designs, ensuring all necessary components are securely in place. Requirements: Assembly: Shelter frames, roof, and walls should be assembled and secured according to manufacturer instructions and industry standards. Anchoring: Ensure shelters are anchored securely to the concrete pads to withstand wind and weather. Electrical Work: If applicable, install electrical wiring for lighting or other features, ensuring compliance with local codes. Safety: Ensure all installation processes follow OSHA standards and campus safety protocols. Final Inspection: Once installation is complete, conduct a final inspection to ensure all shelters are properly installed, stable, and meet the design and safety requirements. Collaboration with PDC: Throughout the installation process, maintain close coordination with the Department of Planning, Design, and Construction to ensure compliance with all design and construction requirements.
