Anticipated work includes upgraded finishes, exterior repair and restoration to the existing masonry and roofing. Interior work will include upgraded plumbing, mechanical, electrical systems, as well as a new elevator to meet current codes. Bonding Requirements - Bid Bond 5 % - Performance Bond 100 % - Payment Bond 100 % Estimated Cost: $9.5 million Qualification: DCAM Certificate The proposed scope of work at Westborough Public Library consists of repairs and interior renovations at both the original library building, constructed in 1908, and a later addition completed in 1980. The two connected structures occupy nearly 20,000 square feet, distributed over three levels. This project is not currently receiving, nor expects to receive in the future, any federal or state funds, grants, or licenses for the work to be done as part of this project. The library is a contributing element to the West Main Street Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. Interior work will include new and/or upgraded finishes, fire suppression, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems throughout the building. Interior program changes are being made to better meet the needs of a 21st century library. Most notably, space will be carved out of the main stacks area to provide new programming space for teens on the Main Level. A new core will be added to this floor that will provide three new gender-neutral public toilets, a new small group meeting room, and related support areas. The building will be made fully accessible (except for select MA-AAB waiver items) by incorporating new and/or modified door hardware and clearances, stair hand and guard rails, and elevator modernization.
