The Town of Westborough seeks to repair and renovate their library, consisting of a three-level structure built in 1908 and a later addition in 1980. Anticipated work includes upgraded finishes, exterior repair and restoration to the existing masonry and roofing. Interior work will include upgraded plumbing, mechanical, electrical systems, as well as a new elevator to meet current codes. Bonding Requirements - Bid Bond 5 % - Performance Bond 100 % - Payment Bond 100 % Estimated Cost: $9.5 million Qualification: DCAM Certificate Anticipated work at the exterior of the building consists mostly of repairs and restoration including repointing of the 1908 masonry, complete replacement of the two existing masonry chimneys, replacement of existing slate roofing with new synthetic slate, new sheet metal flashings and gutters, restoration of existing wood windows in the 1908 building, replacement of 1980 membrane roofing, new HVAC units, restoration of wood and metal exterior trim, and related sitework. Interior work will include new and/or upgraded finishes, fire suppression, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems throughout the building. Interior program changes are being made to better meet the needs of a 21st century library. Most notably, space will be carved out of the main stacks area to provide new programming space for teens on the Main Level. A new core will be added to this floor that will provide three new gender-neutral public toilets, a new small group meeting room, and related support areas.
