Renovation of an educational facility in Kingston, Ontario. Design plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Convert washrooms to "gender-neutral" designation. Washrooms to be completely demolished (mechanical, electrical and architectural items). Universal washrooms to have new fixtures, faucets, an adult change table, grab bars, emergency call system(potentially) and entrance doors to be equipped with automatic door opener. The gender-neutral washrooms to have new fixtures and faucets. Each washroom to have new ceramic floor, ceramic walls and gypsum ceiling. Replace all risers serving washrooms, basement and ground floor horizontal branches, and dining hall kitchen trench area supply piping. Replace all vertical drain stacks including rainwater leaders. Replace / remediate buried sanitary and storm pipes (piping lining possible). Demolish, replace and add vertical duct risers as required for exhaust airflow. Replace and add exhaust fans as required. Relocate (3) fire hose cabinets. Wire replacements as required to eliminate paper coated wiring. Upgrades to LED light fixtures. Addition of convenience receptacles in washrooms for cleaning purposes. New fire alarm initiation device, horn and strobe to be provided for each new washroom space. TIMELINE: An RFP for design has been awarded. Design is underway. Updates may be available spring 2026. The estimated construction budget is $8M.
