The Plant Operations Department of the Nashua School District (NSD) is soliciting quotes for work relating to the refinishing of wooden gymnasium, stage and cafeteria flooring. Scope of work includes all labor, materials and equipment required to wet screen and finish selected floors. This will be a three (3) year contract. Work shall include the following (where a product is listed, contractor shall provide "brand name or equal"): 1. Wet mop floor with a suitable cleaning solution. 2. Scrub floor utilizing a single brush floor machine equipped with a 120 grit disc under a white or steel wool pad; remove all scratches, heel marks, rubber burns and gum. 3. Before cleaning solution has dried, pick up with a wet vacuum or auto-scrubber. Ensure all soiled cleaning solution has been removed from floor. 4. Damp mop floor twice using clean water. 5. Tack floor with solvent until floor is dust free. Allow floor to dry overnight. Tack floor again following morning. Allow floor to dry. 6. Apply two coats of "Bona Kemi SportPoly 350" oil based urethane gloss (brand name or equal) according to manufacturer's instructions. Steel wool between coats of finish and tack with solvent. No water-based finishes will be accepted. 7. Supplement gym or stage ventilation with floor fans as needed to assure adequate ventilation. 8. When finished the floor must present a smooth, even surface, free of streaks, bubbles, peeling or flaking. Any bidder who believes a conflict of interest may exist in responding to the Invitation to Bid shall so state that conflict as part of the bid submission. The District reserves the right to reject said bid based on its conclusion that a substantive conflict exists. The last day of school for 2025 is tentatively June 11 th, subject to additional "snow days". All work shall be completed by Friday, August 22, 2025. Dates for subsequent school years generally come out each summer in advance of the school year commencing. Summer school starts in early July and ends the second week in August. The refinishing schedule must work around these summer schedules in addition to avoiding the high schools in after the second week in August (fall sports practices). Upon awarding of this contract the Plant Operations Staff will work with the contractor to develop a schedule for refinishing the floors.
