The objective of this project is to hire a qualified contractor to complete asphalt overlay on the pathways within Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens as outlined in the drawings and contract documents within the preferred construction window. The successful contractor will complete surface repairs in areas with cracking and root damage and overlay all existing pathways with asphalt for a cohesive and uniform final look. Minor grading improvements for drainage and accessibility are also included in this work. The site has limited access, important historical structures and sensitive vegetation. The successful contractor will demonstrate careful attention to detail and respect of the landscape and culture the gardens represent. To reduce impact to the garden's operating season, a firm nine-week construction window has been preapproved for this project: August 31 - October 31, 2026. The garden will be closed to the public during this time. The work to be completed under this contract consists of supplying all materials, equipment, products, labour and transportation for the overlay of asphalt pathways, including all incidental work, as outlined in the contract documents.
