The objective of this project is to hire a qualified contractor to carefully repair pathways within Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens as outlined in the drawings and contract documents within the preferred construction window. The completed pathway repairs will provide an accessible and safe experience for the garden's visitors. The successful contractor will complete deep reconstruction repairs in isolated areas with heavy cracking and root damage, and asphalt overlay all existing pathways for a cohesive and uniform final look. Grading improvements for drainage and accessibility are also included in this work. The site has limited access, important historical structures and sensitive vegetation. The successful contractor will demonstrate careful attention to detail and deep respect of the landscape and culture the gardens represent. To reduce impact to the garden's operating season, a firm nine-week construction window has been preapproved for this project: August 31 - October 31, 2026. The work to be completed under this contract consists of supplying all materials, equipment, products, labour and transportation for the construction of concrete pathways, including all incidental work, as outlined in the contract documents.
