Description: The City of Wilson is requesting informal bids from contractors to plant 95,000 +/- sq./ft of existing 328 Bermudagrass Greens at Wedgewood Golf Course in the City of Wilson, North Carolina with Champion Ultradwarf Bermudagrass or equivalent Ultradwarf Bermudagrass using the No-Till Renovation Process. The City of Wilson has been awarded a Community Project Funding Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The Wedgewood Grass Greens Renovation are being paid for from a portion of this funding that was awarded. Scope of Work: Materials - the contractor will provide the following materials: o A step-by-step written guideline to be followed when preparing the greens using the No Till Renovation Process. o Glyphosate mixture & application apparatus for use as part of a procedure for eradication of the existing turf. o Week-by-week written guidelines to be followed during the grow-in process o A gasoline-powered edger (Atom(TM) Edger) or equivalent will be provided for use in preparing the greens, and to keep for use in maintaining precise definition between the collar and the putting surface. Services - provide the following services as a part of this proposal: o Assessment Site Visit - contractor personnel will visit before beginning the job to identify any areas of concern that require attention during the conversion process: o Sunlight - Each green will be evaluated for adequate sunlight and any problematic trees will be identified. o Surface Drainage - The contours of each green will be evaluated for adequate sheet-flow surface drainage and remedies will be prescribed for any areas which need to be addressed. o Infrastructure Assessment - contractor personnel will identify any concerns with the irrigation system, maintenance equipment, or labor availability that would hinder the ability to produce top-quality putting surfaces using Champion Ultradwarf Bermudagrass or equivalent cultivar. o Soil testing - the contractor will take soil tests before the renovation process to determine appropriate soil amendments to be made during the conversion o Amendment recommendations - the contractor will make soil amendment and pre-plant fertilizer recommendations to be applied during the preparation of the greens Work Performed - the contractor will perform the work of planting the greens as follows: o Sprigs will be planted at a rate of 35 bushels per 1,000 sq./ft o Sprigs will be transported to the job site using refrigerated transport o Sprigs will consist of individual stolons which can be readily broadcast into a uniform matrix on the surface of the greens o Sprigs will be packed into individual bags that will be carried to the greens by hand in order to minimize the risk of contamination or damage from heavy equipment o Sprigs will be broadcast onto the greens by hand by planting crews. o Sprigs will be pressed to the surface of the green by rolling immediately after broadcasting using a roller supplied by the contractor which is to be pulled by a golf cart provided by the facility o The planting will include all greens of the golf course as well as a nursery green.
