All General Contractors bidding this project shall be required to visit the site and examine all existing conditions prior to submitting their proposal. All Bidders shall have general liability and workman's compensation insurance. The project shall be bid excluding taxes. Bids must be submitted on proposal forms furnished by Piedmont City School District or copies thereof. No bid may be withdrawn after scheduled closing for receipt of bids for a period of ninety (90) days. THIS IS A PUBLIC WORKS BID THEREFORE THE FOLLOWING BONDS ARE REQUIRED ON THIS PROJECT: A certified check or Bid Bond payable to Piedmont City School District in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, but in no event more than $10,000.00 must accompany the bidder's sealed proposal. Performance and statutory labor and material payment bonds will be required at the signing of the Contract. A Performance Bond (from an Alabama Surety Company) equal to 100% of the contract price must be furnished within the period specified or, if no period is specified, within 15 days after the prescribed forms have been presented to him or her for signature. A Payment Bond equal to 50% of the contract price, with the obligation that the contractor or contractors shall promptly make payments to all persons supplying labor, materials, supplies or in the prosecution of the work provided in the contract and for the payment of reasonable attorney's fees incurred by successful claimants or plaintiffs in civil action on the bond. E-VERIFY Alabama laws require that, as a condition for the award of a contract by a school board to a business entity or employer with one or more employees working in Alabama, the business entity or employer must provide documentation of enrollment in the E-Verify program. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive technical errors if, in the Owners judgment, the best interests of the Owner will thereby be promoted.
