Washington Street Syracuse, NY 13202 Phone: 315-428-4351 NYDOT - Culvert Rehabilitation - Various Locations The existing 72" x 42", 158-foot long corrugated metal pipe will be repaired by means of slip lining with an ovalized 48" x 32", 186.75-foot long smooth plastic pipe. As seen on the attached plan sheets, the placement of heavy stone fill within the channel will be used to prevent scour, decrease water velocities, and eliminate the potential for any perched condition. Stone bedding material (item 620.0801) will be utilized to bed the heavy stone at the inlet and outlet, and existing native material will be reused. The use of a temporary water diversion structure will ensure that water quality standards are met. Further detail on standard erosion and sediment control practices can be seen on the attached Erosion Control Plan. As required by the Community Risk and Resiliency Act (CRRA), the culvert rehabilitation has been designed with consideration of future physical risk due to climate change. The design flows (50-year recurrence) and check flows (100- year recurrence) were developed in accordance with the provisions of Section 8.6.1.1 of the NYSDOT Highway Design Manual, which requires that flows be increased by 10% for locations in Onondaga County to account for the effects of climate change. Work for this project includes slip line work for large culvert locations C330125 & CA00453 carrying S Br. Ley Creek across 1690, in T of DeWitt, C330122 & CA00278 on Rt 635 (Thompson Rd), carrying S Br Ley Creek, C of Syracuse and V of E Syracuse, C330156 equalizer pipe below Rt 481, T of Cicero, C330110 drainage pipe below 1481 NB&SB, T of DeWitt, C330151 carrying Trib. of Mud Creek, below 181 NB&SB, T of Cicero, C340006 & CA00161 carrying Geddes Brook, below Rt 5/RT 695N, T of Camillus, C330105 & CA00452 on 1481, carrying Trib. to Limestone Creek, T of DeWitt, C340016 carrying Smith Hollow Brook, below Rt 20, T of Onondaga and a full replacement for C330126 carrying Trib. of S Br Ley Creek, along Rt 930P, T of DeWitt. Tree cutting and Right of Way acquisition is required for several locations. This work shall consist of furnishing, installing, maintaining, and removing temporary ground protection mat as per, and at the locations shown in, the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. Temporary ground protection mats are used for construction equipment access at work sites. This work shall consist of stockpiling and placing existing stream bed materials in conformance with the lines, grades and thickness shown in the Contract Documents or as directed by the Engineer. This work shall consist of control and disposal of identified invasive species and disposal of infested soil in accordance with the contract documents and as directed by the Engineer. The work described is to control the spread and/or re-growth of invasive species. Specific control methods to be used are identified in either a special note in the contract proposal or notes on contract plans. The note(s) shall be titled Controlling Invasive Plant Species. This work shall consist of the meaningful and effective training of apprentices/trainees leading to their qualification as an entry level trade worker, professional support worker, or journeyworker in trades for the highway construction industry.
