Washington Street Syracuse, NY 13202 Phone: 315-428-4351 NYDOT - Culvert Rehabilitation - Various Locations The existing 72" x 42", 158-foot long corrugated metal pipe will be repaired by means of slip lining with an ovalized 48" x 32", 186.75-foot long smooth plastic pipe. As seen on the attached plan sheets, the placement of heavy stone fill within the channel will be used to prevent scour, decrease water velocities, and eliminate the potential for any perched condition. Stone bedding material (item 620.0801) will be utilized to bed the heavy stone at the inlet and outlet, and existing native material will be reused. The use of a temporary water diversion structure will ensure that water quality standards are met. Further detail on standard erosion and sediment control practices can be seen on the attached Erosion Control Plan. As required by the Community Risk and Resiliency Act (CRRA), the culvert rehabilitation has been designed with consideration of future physical risk due to climate change. The design flows (50-year recurrence) and check flows (100- year recurrence) were developed in accordance with the provisions of Section 8.6.1.1 of the NYSDOT Highway Design Manual, which requires that flows be increased by 10% for locations in Onondaga County to account for the effects of climate change.
