Work shall consist of the following approximate quantities: 7,450 square yards of pavement milling, 1,050 tons of HMA surface course, 725 linear feet of concrete curb, 290 square yards of various concrete work, ADA compliant curb ramps, concrete restoration, various drainage improvements, striping, together with miscellaneous other related work items. Bids must be made on the standard proposal form in a manner designated therein and required by the specifications. They shall be enclosed in an opaque sealed envelope addressed to the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Lake Como, bearing on the outside the name of the bidder, his address and the name of the contract for which the bid is submitted. Bids must be accompanied by a certificate from a surety company stating that it will provide the specified performance and maintenance bonds in the event that the contract is awarded to the bidder. Each bid must be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond for ten percent of the amount of the bid, drawn on an incorporated bank or trust company, payable to the Borough of Lake Como, as guarantee that in case the contract is awarded the bidder, he will, within ten days thereafter execute such contract and furnish satisfactory performance bond. Upon failure to do so, he shall forfeit the deposit as a partial satisfaction of liquidated damages and the acceptance of the bid will be contingent upon fulfillment of this requirement by the bidder. The checks of all bidders will be returned according to law. No interest shall be allowed upon any such check. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids or waive any informality where such informality is not detrimental to the best interest of the Borough of Lake Como. The right is also reserved to increase or decrease the quantities specified in the manner designed in the specification. Please be advised that funds through the Transportation Trust Fund Program are being utilized in this project. The award of the contract for this work will not be made until the necessary funds and permits have been provided by the Borough of Lake Como in a lawful manner. Construction shall not begin until permits from NJDOT, NJ Transit and Monmouth County are approved, if required. Bidders are required to comply with the requirements of P.L. 1975, c. 127, N.J.A.C.17:27. (Affirmative Action) & P.L. 1977, c. 22 (Ownership Disclosure). The Contract shall be awarded, or all bids rejected, within sixty days from the receipt of bids within such extensions of time as permitted by law. The Mayor and Council reserve the right to reject any and all bids, or to waive any informality of any bid.
