Site work and paving for a sidewalk / parking lot in Winchendon, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a sidewalk / parking lot; and for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot.

Project was awarded to Massachusetts Broken Stone Company for $345,251.28.  Construction to begin in the spring. Furnishing all necessary labor, materials and equipment required for the reclamation, paving and pavement marking of the Rail Trail from the Center of Town to the Town line. Estimated Cost $350000. Contractor Qualification DCAMM Cert. and Highway Division Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. The work to be performed under this Contract consists of furnishing all necessary labor, materials and equipment required for the reclamation, paving and pavement marking of the Rail Trail from the Center of Town to the Town line. The project is split into 3 sections of the trail as described below; Section 1 - Center of Town to Old Gardner Rd., pavement marking only Section 2 - Old Gardner Rd. to Commercial Drive, reclamation and pavement markings Section 3 - Town Line to Commercial Drive, reclamation and pavement markings Reclamation will consist of reclaiming the existing +/-9' bike path and re-paving with a new 10' wide path, from Old Gardner Rd to the Town Line. The work includes the reclaiming 12" of existing pavement and subbase and paving a 1.5" binder and 1.5" top course of HMA to maintain a uniform longitudinal and cross slope that will guarantee a puddle free surface with a smooth ride from Old Gardner Rd. to the Winchendon Town Line, approximately 2.15 miles. Also included in the scope, Contractor will be responsible for painting the longs lines, crosswalks, stop bars and lettering along the trail path from the Town line to the Center of Town. The work hours are 7:00am to 3:30 pm Monday - Friday excluding Town holidays. This project will require coordination with the City of Gardner DPW in order to access the Winchendon Town Line along the Rail Trail. Contractor will responsible for ensuring the coordination with the City. Due to the underpass constraint at the intersection of Commercial Drive and the Rail Trail (see page 4 of the plans) the only way to access Section 3, Town Line to Commercial Drive, is via the City of Gardner Entrance on Gardner Rd (Rt 140), see page 5 of the plans. In order to protect the bike path within the City of Gardner limits, all machinery must have rubber tires. Contractor will be required to mobilize at the Gardner entrance of the path and move the equipment approximately 1 mile north to the Winchendon Town Line. Incidental to this contract, as needed, are all advance construction warning signs, ramps at joints, cones, and barrels needed to insure the safety of the public. The Contractor will have no claim for required mobilizations or delay due to unforeseen circumstances associated with Town utilities. The Contractor shall provide his services within (2) two weeks of the date requested by the Town and will submit a project schedule of work activities. Deadline for the entire work shall be June 1, 2025.
