Reference Number 0000374140 The City of Albany invites qualified tree service contractors to offer proposals for the dormant season removal of 80+ trees as part of Hackett Park Improvements. This is primarily a land clearing operation, but a dozen or so existing trees will be protected and preserved along the eastern side of the Park. Trees to be preserved have all been marked at breast height with a 4" green painted dot. All other trees, stumps and debris is to be removed. Trees consist primarily of weed trees (Tree of Heaven, Box Elder, Elm, Silver Maple, Mulberry, Norway maple) of poor quality that have sprung up over the years (see attached table). The work site is in Hackett Park, a 4.5 acre city-owned park in North Albany between North First Street and North Second Street. The primary group of trees runs 600 feet from north to south through the park in a 20-30 foot wide band. There is level ground open ground to the eastern side of this band. The western side borders several basketball and a tennis court. These courts, their fences and lighting are to be protected. Another, group of smaller weed trees runs along the retaining wall on the western side of the Park. All trees, stumps and debris on this side of the park is to be removed.
