General statement of duties: The person holding this position is responsible for the maintenance of the Cedaredge Golf Course irrigation infrastructure, including but not limited to irrigation ditches/pump station/filters/valves/timers/ponds and sprinkler systems. Supervision received: Works under the supervision of the Golf Course General Manager and Grounds Manager. The person in this position is expected to use initiative and good judgement in the performance of all duties, and act with full responsibility for those duties. Supervision exercised: None This position is responsible for: . Repairing broken pipes, leaking fittings, weeping sprinklers, non-operating sprinklers, and controller or wiring issues. Routine work includes troubleshooting the system as necessary. . Performs preventative maintenance on the irrigation system. . Determines wet and dry areas for adjustments of sprinkler heads. . Properly inventories and stocks all irrigation parts and tools. . Maintains working knowledge of pump station maintenance requirements . Operates, maintains and repairs a complex irrigation system, including leaks on the distribution lines, valve risers, electrical system, and irrigation control wire. . Reports any serious irrigation issues to supervisors and maintains a daily log of completed repairs. . Prioritizes irrigation issues and uses time efficiently. . Conducts monthly checks of all sprinkler heads on the entire golf facility. . Routinely inspects irrigation system components to ensure system is operating properly. . Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. . When immediate issues do not have to be addressed, the technician will level sprinklers and set them to grade, check sprinkler arcs and nozzles and perform audits to improve irrigation scheduling. Also responsible for preventative maintenance, such as cleaning out controllers, keeping irrigation room and cart organized and clean, replacing and leveling valve boxes, and cleaning pump station as needed. . Performs other duties as required. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: . Knowledge of irrigation systems is highly desirable. . Ability to follow specific instructions. . Ability to perform physical labor for an extended period, including digging and use of hand tools. . Aptitude to work with mechanical equipment. . Ability to identify best practices and make recommendations to supervisor regarding equipment and materials necessary to maintain and improve the golf course. Required education and experience: . High School graduation or equivalent. . Any combination of experience and training resulting in the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Necessary special requirements: . Must have a valid Colorado driver's license. . Working conditions may include working in all weather conditions, during all hours of the day. Physical demands include but are not limited to standing, climbing, walking, lifting, bending, pulling and/or pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching for extended periods of time, sitting, typing, walking, reading, writing, color determination, speaking and listening.
