The town of Stony Plain in an urban municipality located west of Edmonton with a population of nearly 18,000 residents, comprised of young families, working professionals, artists, entrepreneurs and retirees. In addition to the town's residential population, over 900 businesses provide services to the community, as well as to customers in the region and beyond. This request for proposals is an invitation by the Town of Stony Plain (the "Town") to prospective proponents to submit proposals for Municipal Waste Services - Garbage and Organics. The Town of Stony Plain is requesting submissions from proponents to provide services throughout the town for the collection of regular household garbage and organics. Beginning April 1, 2025 , the successful proponent with be expected to provide all materials, equipment, supervision, and administration for: o the collection of household garbage and organic waste from approximately 5,703 residential dwelling units; o the collection of garbage and organic waste from front load bins and roll-off containers at select sites and facilities; o the transport and disposal of all collected household garbage at a licensed and approved Class II landfill mutually agreed upon by the successful proponent and the Town; and o the transport and disposal of all organic waste at a processor mutually agreed upon by the successful proponent and the Town. The Contractor shall, during the term of the Agreement, at its own expense, provide its own labour and all related equipment and costs required to fulfill the requirements of this service to ensure that garbage and organics collection for the Town is conducted in accordance with all applicable permits, by-laws, standards, directives, regulations pursuant to the laws of Alberta. The term of the agreement is to be for a period of five (5) years, with an option in favour of the Town to extend the agreement on the same terms and conditions for one (1) additional term of three (3) years.
