Site work and renovation of a mixed-use development in Palatine, Illinois. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; water / sewer project; and for the renovation of a educational facility.

As part of the base bid, the heating contractor shall provide all labor, materials, and equipment to replace the condensate piping and pipe support racks between tunnel branches to bldgs F&P in the utility tunnel and the steam and condensate valves located where the tunnel branch to bldg. P meets the utility tunnel. The location of the base bid work is identified as Work Area 0 on dwg. G-3. Alternate H-1, work area 1, on dwg. G-3 calls for replacing two expansion loops with expansion joints in the utility tunnel. Alternate H-2 includes the replacement of the condensate piping in the tunnel branch to building P, the condensate piping in the mechanical room of building P, and a condensate line between buildings P and L mechanical rooms. The work for the base bid and alternate H-1 will require a complete shutdown of the utility tunnel. With the new isolation valves at the entrance to tunnel branch P, work can be completed in buildings P&L without shutting down the utility tunnel. The work for the base bid and alternate H-1 work shall be coordinated with Harper College facilities management. Work for alternates H-2 will also require coordination with the facility (Using Agency). The contractor must keep pipe fitters on site to ensure all new piping and valves hold without leakage. The quality of the heating work shall be complete in every aspect, tested, and satisfactory to the Using Agency, CDB, and the A/E, and following State and Federal laws governing this installation.
