Inyo County Parks and Recreation is requesting quotes for tree work at two County parks. Tree work is being requested at Mendenhall Park in Big Pine, CA, and Spainhower Park in Lone Pine, CA (Lone Pine Park). This project is subject to the State of California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) prevailing wage labor rates. Scope of Work Most of the work is pruning/trimming large branches in the canopy. Hazard tree removal is necessary for 2-3 large cottonwood trees at Spainhower Park and one smaller cottonwood tree at Mendenhall Park . Tree species are mainly cottonwoods (Populus fremontii) and a couple elm, and locust trees. The work is to be focused on public safety and to increase longevity of large shade trees. All material such as branches and rounds are to be left on the ground for Inyo County Parks staff to clean up, haul to the dump, and/or chip. Mendenhall Park, Big Pine Trim/prune three large cottonwoods around playground areas and horseshoe pits/gazebo area. There is one elm tree that may need cabling or pruning adjacent to the parking lot to mitigate hazards for vehicles. There are a couple elms with large branches growing towards Baker Creek Rd that need pruning as well. Near the center of the park, there are three cottonwoods growing closely together. One is rotten with several broken co-dominant stems. Prune/remove large branches for parks staff to fell the tree trunk. Spainhower Park, Lone Pine Remove two very large cottonwood trees adjacent to creek, just north of Carl's Jr. parking lot. Pruning for two locust trees with dead branches on the east side of the park, near the lamp post. Adjacent to the parking lot north of Carl's Jr., there are three cottonwood trees that require pruning. One of these cottonwoods is subject to change for removal. Bids will be opened on February at 10:00 A.M., after which the winning bidder will be contacted. Inyo County Code Inyo County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. Responses to this RFP will be assessed based on both price and the County's determination of what equipment best meets the County's operational needs. Pursuant to the County's obligations to the Public Record's Act, any documents submitted to the county may be disclosed to any member of the public upon request. Any bidder who wishes to challenge the bidding or procurement process must file a complaint in conformance with Chapter 6.30 of the Inyo County Code.
