Scope The Methuen Housing Authority is seeking the services of a qualified designer to provide professional design and construction admin. services for the Fire Alarm System Replacement project at 3 elderly developments. Time Period for Completed Project 73 weeks from signing of the design contract The Scope of work includes, but is not limited to: 1. Upgrade the existing fire alarm systems at 667-02, 667-03, and 667-04 developments to a new addressable system with new addressable devices and components by proven manufacturers. 2. The system shall be reviewed by the local authority/fire department and be designed in accordance with current applicable codes, regulations, and standards. 3. The fire alarm equipment specified shall have proven reliability, ease of operation, repair, and maintenance characteristics. The system should have sufficient capacity and flexibility to allow 20% future modifications and additions to be made without replacing major components. 4. Equipment that is manufactured by suppliers that require exclusive use of their components and repair technicians to service, modify, etc. the FA system should not be specified since it is costly and difficult to maintain and repair for the housing authorities. 5. An overall goal of the project is to meet the requirements of the project's scope in the most permanent and cost-effective manner possible. 6.6% MBE and 15% WBE
