additional bid date note: Each bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope addressed to: The City of Lewes, PO Box 227, Lewes, Delaware 19958. Each sealed bid envelope must be plainly marked on the outside as "BID FOR RESIDENTIAL YARD WASTE COLLECTION & DISPOSAL," and the envelope should also bear the name and address of the bidder. If forwarded by mail, the sealed bid envelope must be enclosed in another envelope addressed to the City Manager, Ellen Lorraine McCabe, The City of Lewes, PO Box 227, Lewes, Delaware 19958. The bidder wil: o Complete collection of all residential yard waste from all residential units (approximately 3250 units) within the corporate city limits of Lewes. o Yard waste is not to be landfilled. Reports of tonnage shall be provided to the City Manager monthly, and weight tickets shall be retained by the Contractor and made available upon request. (In 2024 approximately 316.65 tons of yard waste was collected in the City.) o The collection schedule will be proposed by the contractor and approved by the City by March 28, 2025. The collection will be based on 26 pick-ups per year. o The City and contractor may amend the agreement to add additional pick-ups at a fee based on the annual fee. The City of Lewes may waive any informalities or minor defects or reject any and all bids and accept the bid deemed to be in the best interest of The City.
