Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is seeking proposals from organizations and individuals wishing to provide Playground designs, purchasing of equipment and installation services for Hale and Cooper playgrounds. Minneapolis Public Schools or Special School District Number 1 (SSD #1) is a school district that is coterminous with the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota. With authority granted by the state legislature, the school board makes policy, selects the superintendent, and oversees the district's budget, curriculum, personnel, and facilities. Students speak ninety different languages at home and most school communications are printed in English, Hmong, Spanish, and Somali. The District covers over 70 school programs at 65 sites, with approximately 32,690 students and 3,285 teaching staff. The District intends to select one or more organizations to provide the necessary playground design, purchasing and installation services. To facilitate the submission and evaluation of proposals, this proposal provides additional background information regarding MPS that will be relevant to the proposal of the playground services. RFP Primary Objective 1: Partner with a playground equipment provider to design the playground with staff, student and parent input. The selected vendor is required to hold a minimum of 5 meetings with staff, students, parent groups and others from each school to gather input on the types of equipment desired by the staff, students and parents. Each school is considered a separate project for this RFP. However, only one response to this RFP is required to be considered for one or more of the schools. RFP Primary Objective 2: Provide a minimum of three designs that consider the input received from Objective 1 and ensure all three designs meet the budget levels established for the project. Present the options to the steering team and stakeholders to gain consensus on the preferred playground solution.
