MCDC is a Type B economic and community development corporation governed by Chapter 501, 502, 504 and 505 of the Texas Local Government Code. MCDC is funded through the collection of ½ a percent of sales and use tax collected in the City of Midlothian. MCDC is authorized to use these funds for MCDC operations, promotional purposes, and projects. Authorized Projects include those allowable projects identified in the Texas Local Government Code. Below is a list of Authorized Projects that are applicable to the City of Midlothian: • Sec. 501.101 – Projects related to creation or retention of primary jobs. • Sec. 501.102 – Projects related to certain job training. • Sec. 501.103 – Certain infrastructure improvement projects. • Sec. 501.105 – Career center projects outside of junior college districts. • Sec. 505.152 – Projects related to recreational or community facilities • Sec. 505.153 – Projects related to affordable housing. • Sec. 505.154 – Projects related to water supply facilities and water conservation projects • Sec. 505.1561 –Projects related to airport facilities The City and MCDC reserves the right to contact and/or interview proposer(s) for clarification after proposals are opened, if such is deemed desirable by the City and MCDC.
