Renovation of a mixed-use development in Raleigh, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a swimming pool.

Project Manager: Carlos Reyes, PE, 919 996 4781, carlos.reyes@raleighnc.gov The work consists in Replace Existing Pool Sand Filters Bidding Documents include this Invitation To Bid, and the following attached forms: Form of Proposal sample contract, Sales Tax Report, MBE form, and General Conditions. The bidding documents also include the plans and specifications, and any Addenda issued prior to receipt of bids. All requirements and obligations of the Bidding Documents are hereby incorporated by reference into the Contract Documents and are binding on the Successful Bidder upon award of the contract. Each Bidder by submitting his Bid represents that he has read and understands that Bidding Documents and his Bid is made in accordance therewith; and Bidder agrees to be bound by the terms and requirements set forth in the Bidding and Contract Documents; that he has visited the site, has familiarized himself with the local conditions under which the Work is to be performed herein, and has correlated his observations with the requirements of the proposed Contract Documents. The Owner/City Council reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all Bids. Unless all Bids are rejected, Award will be made to the lowest responsible and responsive Bidder, taking into consideration quality, performance and the time specified in the Bid Form for the performance of the Contract. With each request for Bidding Documents supply the following information: Company name, contact person, street address, phone number, and email address for Bidding point of contact; N.C. contractor's license with limitation and classification; indicate if the firm will be a Prime bidder, Supplier or Sub-Contractor. Remove and Dispose Existing Filters When demolishing a pool filter, specifications typically include: completely removing all filter components, including the tank, filter media (sand, cartridge, or DE), piping, electrical wiring, and any associated plumbing, ensuring proper drainage of remaining water, and disposing of materials according to local regulations; Key aspects of pool filter demolition specifications: o Water Drainage: o Completely drain the filter tank before demolition. o Properly dispose of pool water according to local regulations, potentially requiring dechlorination. o Component Removal: o Dismantle the filter tank, including the top, bottom, and side walls. o Remove all filter media (sand, cartridges, DE powder). o Disconnect and remove all associated plumbing pipes and fittings. o Remove any electrical wiring or components related to the filter. o Remove existing filter support and replace with similar equivalent o Debris Management: o Properly dispose of all debris from the demolition site. 2. New Filter Specifications and Installation Instructions o Filter Specifications o Pool Data: 195,000 gallons, with a min turnover rate of 678 gpm. o Horizontal fiberglass sand filters with the following specs: o Filtration area: 25 Sqft each tank, 50 Sqft Total. Filtration flow rate: approximately 850GPM o Flow meter replacement with similar o o INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS o The pump mount must be located away from corrosive or flammable chemicals o Do not connect the pump to a municipal water system o The pump is only designed for pool or spa installation o All air must be removed from piping system before operating or testing equipment o Replace plumbing to similar condition o Support hardware needs to be galvanized o Flange/valve hardware to be stainless steel o Piping Schedule 80 o "Asahi" butterfly valves. o Fill filters with sand o Include startup system o THREADED CONNECTIONS o Use only Plumber's Seal tape or equivalent on threaded plumbing connections o Do not use silicone or petroleum-based compounds o PUMP PLUMBING o Piping Schedule 80 o "Asahi" butterfly valves. o Keep the piping as straight and short as possible, and of suitable size o Avoid connecting an elbow directly into the pump inlet o Slope horizontal runs upward to the pump to prevent trapping air o Use independent piping supports to reduce strain on the pump o Keep as much of the suction line as possible below the water level to reduce priming time Keep all valves fully open during operation o WIRING, GROUNDING & BONDING o Install, ground, bond and wire motor according to local or National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements, with copper conductors only o Permanently ground motor Use green ground terminal provided under motor canopy or access plate (use size and type wire required by code) to connect motor ground terminal to electrical service ground In addition to the ground o a Bond wire is required o General Requirement o Contractor to provide an engineer to confirm filter and pump parameters to comply with City of Raleigh and Wake County requirements o Provides copies of owner's manuals, parts diagrams, warranty information as part of the close out documents Bidders will be required to show evidence that they are licensed to perform the work in the Bidding Documents as required by North Carolina General Statute, Chapter 87 and the Instruction to Bidders. Pursuant to General Statutes of North Carolina Sections 143-128.2 and 143-131, and in accordance with City policy, the City of Raleigh encourages and provides equal opportunity for certified Minority and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) businesses to participate in all aspects of the City's contracting and procurement programs to include Professional Services; Goods and Other Services; and Construction. The prime contractor will be required to identify participation of MWBE businesses in their Bid, and how that participation will be achieved. Furthermore, the City's goal is to contract or sub-contract fifteen percent (15%) of the contract amount to certified MWBEs on construction projects over $300,000, or with contracts that include $100,000 or more in state funding
