The Project involves work at four streams that cross SR 41, located at PM 0.63 (Laguna Ditch [also called G Canal]), PM 2.19 (Camden Ditch), PM 3.15 (Big B Ditch), and PM 3.95 (Murphy Slough) (Figures 1 and 2 and Table 1). The four locations are collectively referred to as the Project Area, and individually referred to as Project work areas. The Project involves activities related to the removal and replacement of existing culvert structures on SR 41 at Laguna Ditch, Camden Ditch, and Big B Ditch and construction of a new single-span, concrete, two-lane bridge over Murphy Slough. The Project is part of a larger transportation project in which Caltrans will convert the existing two-lane expressway into a four-lane expressway. Existing non-native, weedy herbaceous vegetation will be cleared from Project work areas and hauled away. No trees over 4 inches diameter at breast height will be removed. A California native seed mix will be applied once all culvert/bridge construction activities have ended. The Project will take approximately 300 working days and 140 nights of work. Work within the streams will occur while the streams are naturally dry. Water diversion will not be required
