For the reinforced concrete box culverts shown in the plans, the contractor may substitute a Precast Concrete Box Culvert alternate design for the original Cast-In-Place concrete design at any location, subject to the requirements of this specification. 2. This specification provides substitution considerations for the barrel. Ends of box culverts shall be of the cast-in-place design as shown in the plans unless an alternate precast end treatment is proposed by the Contractor and approved by the Engineer.
