Description: This project, located in Howard County, is for the construction and upgrade of pedestrian facilities and signalized crossings along US 1 (Washington Blvd) at Rowanberry Drive and Doctor Patel Drive. The work will consist of the following: US 1 at Rowanberry Dr: (a) Construction of sidewalk along northbound US 1 between South Hanover Road onto Old Washington Blvd to the driveway at 6387 Old Washington Rd, for a total length of approximately 1,700 feet. (b) Construction of ADA compliant sidewalk ramps within the US 1 corridor at Rowanberry Dr intersection and at driveway/entrance crossings along sidewalk length. (c) Modifications to existing traffic signals, pedestrian push button upgrades, crosswalks at the US 1 at Rowanberry Dr intersection. (d) Modifications to existing traffic signals, pedestrian push button upgrades, crosswalks at the US 1 at Rowanberry Dr intersection. (e) Drainage pipe installation along northbound US 1 and Old Washington Rd. (f) Offsite SWM improvements. US 1 at Doctor Patel Dr: (a) Construction of sidewalk along southbound US 1 between developer-built sidewalk north of Montgomery Rd and Doctor Patel Dr, and along northbound US 1 between the entrance for 6241 Old Washington Rd and Doctor Patel Dr, for a total length of approximately 700 feet. (b) Construction of ADA compliant sidewalk ramps and median refuge within the US 1 corridor at Doctor Patel Dr intersection and at driveway/entrance crossings along sidewalk length. (c) Installation of fully attenuated signals and signage at the US 1 at Doctor Patel Dr intersection. (d) Milling of existing pavement and overlay along US 1 with signing, and pavement marking upgrades. Note: US 1 at Doctor Patel Drive location is to take priority in construction and will be sequenced to break ground before the US 1 at Rowanberry Drive location.
