Project includes constructing a monument sign, a fountain, and associated utilities, grading, and landscaping. The 28' wide x 13' tall monument sign will have stone veneer and backlit letters. The fountain, located in front of the sign, will have five geysers and a natural stone edge. Grading and landscaping will be focused around the sign and fountain while utilities extend to existing connections in the park. The extent of work on this project includes constructing an Entrance Sign visible from I-380 that will be located between an existing parking lot and trail on the east side of Turtle Creek Park. Grading and landscaping will be focused around the sign and fountain while utilities extend to existing connections in the park Site Address: 2915 Fitzroy Road Engineers Estimate: $256,000 Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon and will furnish after the award of contract a corporate surety bond, in a form acceptable to the Jurisdiction,for the faithful performance of the contract, in an amount equal to 100% of the amount of the contract. The bidder’s security shall be in the amount fixed in the Instruction to Bidders and shall be in the form of a cashier’s check or a certified check drawn on an FDIC insured bank in Iowa or on an FDIC insured bank chartered under the laws of the United States; or a certified share draft drawn on a credit union in Iowa or chartered under the laws of the United States; or a bid bond on the form provided in the contract documents with corporate surety satisfactory to the Jurisdiction. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Each successful bidder will be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to 100% of its contract price. Said bond shall be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City of Hiawatha, Iowa and shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained and shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, and protect and save harmless the City of Hiawatha, Iowa from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract and shall also guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of two years from and after acceptance of thecontract. Project has an early Start Date of Monday, March 31, 2025. Contractor shall have the project substantially completed by Friday, July 25, 2025, and final completion by Friday, August 15, 2025. All paperwork shall be completed by Friday, September 26, 2025. The Contract for this project includes a liquidated damages clause. Liquidated damages for delay, but not as a penalty, are specified as Two Hundred Fifty Dollars($250.00) for each calendar day that expires after the times specified for completion until the work is complete. Completion for this project shall mean that the gateway sign is fully functionable and all site restoration is completed. Only minor punchlist items shall remain that do not impact use of the facility.
