Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Sierra Madre, California. Completed plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

Scope of Work: Conversion of Two Tennis Courts into Eight (8) Pickleball Courts 1. Project Overview This project involves converting two existing tennis courts into eight regulation Pickleball courts, adhering to USA Pickleball Association (USAPA) standards. The objective is to optimize the existing space to meet the increasing demand for Pickleball facilities. 2. Site Assessment o Surface Evaluation: Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current court surfaces to identify structural issues such as cracks, depressions, or surface delamination. Utilize non-destructive testing methods where applicable to determine subsurface integrity. o Dimensional Verification: Confirm that the existing court dimensions can accommodate four Pickleball courts, each measuring 20 feet in width and 44 feet in length, with a preferred total playing area of 30 feet by 60 feet per court. 3. Design and Layout o Court Configuration: Develop a detailed layout plan positioning two Pickleball courts per existing tennis court, ensuring compliance with USAPA guidelines. Include considerations for player movement and safety zones. o Line Markings: Create precise schematics for court markings, ensuring clear differentiation between Pickleball and any residual tennis lines. Specify line widths and colors that provide optimal contrast and visibility 4. Surface Preparation o Cleaning: Employ industrial-grade pressure washing equipment to remove all contaminants, including dirt, mold, and algae, from the court surfaces. o Repairs: Utilize high-quality crack fillers and patching compounds to address surface imperfections. Ensure materials used are compatible with the existing court surface and meet industry standards for durability. o Resurfacing: Apply a multi-layer acrylic resurfacing system designed for Pickleball play, ensuring proper adhesion and surface texture to meet traction requirements. 5. Line Marking o Measurement and Layout: Use precision surveying equipment to measure and mark court boundaries, including baselines, sidelines, non-volley zones, and centerlines, ensuring adherence to regulation dimensions. o Painting: Apply two coats of acrylic line paint, formulated for sports surfaces, in a color that contrasts with the court surface. Ensure lines are straight, uniform, and meet the specified width. 6. Net Installation o Net Posts: Install heavy-duty net posts, ensuring they are plumb and securely anchored below the frost line to prevent movement. Posts should be positioned to achieve a net length of 22 feet, as per USAPA standards. o Nets: Install regulation Pickleball nets, ensuring a height of 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches at the center. Verify tension and alignment to maintain consistent net height across the court. 7. Fencing and Safety o Perimeter Fencing: Assess existing fencing for structural integrity and height compliance. Modify or install new fencing to a minimum height of 10 feet to contain play and ensure safety. o Padding: Install high-density foam padding on all posts and potential impact points to minimize injury risk. 8. Lighting o Assessment: Evaluate current lighting levels using a light meter to ensure they meet the minimum footcandle requirements for evening play. o Installation: Design and install LED lighting systems that provide uniform illumination across all courts, ensuring compliance with local regulations and minimizing light spill to surrounding areas. 9. Amenities o Seating: Install weather-resistant benches with back support, ensuring they are anchored securely to prevent movement. Signage: Erect durable, UV-resistant signage indicating court rules, scheduling information, and emergency contact details 10. Final Inspection and Testing o Quality Assurance: Conduct a thorough inspection to ensure all work meets specified standards and regulations. Utilize a checklist to verify each aspect of the project. o Play Testing: Organize a session with experienced players to test the courts, ensuring functionality and addressing any issues before the official opening Question Deadline 02/26/2025 Requests for information/interpretation (RFI) shall be made in writing and emailed to the following email address, at least ten (10) days before the scheduled bid opening: ayanez@sierramadre.ca.gov
