The School Committee for the Fairhaven Public Schools, Fairhaven, Massachusetts, the Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids from General Contractors for the masonry and roofing restoration of select gables at the Fairhaven High School, located at 12 Huttleston Avenue in Fairhaven, MA, in accordance with the documents prepared by architects the Spencer Preservation Group The scope of the work includes: o Selective replacement of slate roofing, sheet metal gutters and flashings o Selective rebuilding of brick masonry and limestone trim o Treatment of corroded embedded structural steel components, including coating and the installation of cathodic protection. o Cutting and pointing of exterior masonry. Roofing filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified in the category "Roofing" or "Historic Roofing". All bids must include a current DCAMM Certificate of Eligibility and a signed DCAMM Update Statement. General Bidders and Filed Sub-bidders shall have completed similar work on at least 3 buildings listed in the State Register of Historic Places within the past 5 years Filed Sub-Bids: Roofing General bids and sub-bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit that is not less than five (5%) of the greatest possible bid amount (considering all alternates) and made payable to the Fairhaven School Committee A performance bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the bid with a surety company qualified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts will be required for the faithful performance of the contract as well as a labor and materials bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total bid amount. Bidders shall promptly notify the contact specified in the Advertisement via written request for information (RFI) of any ambiguity, inconsistency, or error which they may discover upon examination of the Contract Documents, the site, and local conditions. 3.2 Bidders requiring clarification or interpretation of the Contract Documents shall make a written request for information (RFI) as specified in the Advertisement. The Awarding Authority may answer such requests if received before the bid date and/or within the time as specified in the Advertisement. The Awarding Authority has no obligation to respond to the written requests.
