Site work and new construction of a transportation facility in Frankfort, Kentucky. Conceptual plans call for site work for a transportation facility; and for the construction of a 7,500-square-foot, two-story above grade transportation facility.
As of December 15, 2025, a design team has not yet been identified. The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Finance & Administration Cabinet, Division of Engineering & Contract Administration (DECA) is seeking professional design services for the Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) in designing the Capital City Airport Terminal Building. The scope of work includes, but is not limited to: • Approximate 7,500 square foot, two story terminal building • Geotechnical report and site survey will be furnished by the Department of Aviation • Selected firm will be responsible for developing a construction safety and phasing plan (CSPP) for the project to be submitted to the FAA. • Site grade work and road relocation will be completed by others. Final parking lot design and construction will need to be completed as part of the building design. • Utility services will be brought to the site and terminated. Location will be provided. • Airspace analysis will need to be performed for permanent airspace clearance. • It is anticipated the design team will include, but not limited to, the following: o Architecture and interiors o Civil Site o Landscape Architecture o Structural Engineering o MEP and IT Engineering o Cost Estimating
