Request for Proposal For Landscape Architectural Selection for Parks Golf Course Automated Irrigation Systems Design Barren River State Park, Kentucky Dam Village State Park, My Old Kentucky Home State Park, and Lake Barkley State Park The Commonwealth of Kentucky, Finance & Administration Cabinet, Division of Engineering & Contract Administration (DECA) is seeking professional design services for the Kentucky Department of Parks in providing irrigation design and consulting services for the replacement of automated irrigation systems at four state parks: Barren River State Park, Kentucky Dam Village State Park, My Old Kentucky Home State Park, and Lake Barkley State Park. The goal of the project is to design and install efficient and sustainable irrigation systems with minimal disruption to park operations. This project will involve the assessment, design, and installation of automated irrigation systems to replace aging infrastructure at each of the specified parks. The consultant will work closely with the Department of Parks to ensure that the design meets current technological standards while adhering to the environmental and budgetary constraints of each park. The project aims to: o Ensure proper irrigation coverage across critical areas of each course, including but not limited to green complexes, fairways, roughs, practice areas, and other special features. o Design a system that takes advantage of modern technologies while minimizing water and energy consumption. o Provide designs that are sustainable and environmentally sensitive, especially in areas with special environmental concerns. The selected design consultant will be responsible for the following: o Irrigation Impact Study o Interview key personnel to gather operational insights and historical data on existing systems. o Review previous assessments, repairs, and renovations. o Field Assessment o Conduct thorough on-site inspections at each course to evaluate current system performance. o Review water sources, control systems, and water pressurization systems (pumps, booster pumps, etc.). o Perform sUAS (small Unmanned Aircraft System) flights to gather aerial maps for system layout. o Design Development o Use field assessment data to develop a comprehensive irrigation system design, including sprinkler layout, pipe routing, and specialized system components. o Ensure that designs consider water efficiency and environmental considerations, such as avoiding sensitive areas like wetlands or wildlife sanctuaries. o Full Copyright privileges of all materials shall be granted to both the design consultant firm and Kentucky State Parks for all design materials. o Construction Observation o Provide on-site staking for sprinkler and mainline installation. o Monitor the installation process to ensure compliance with the approved design. o Provide final inspection and record drawings using high-accuracy survey-grade GPS data. o Provide initial central control programming with integrated mapping developed from GPS. o Bid and Contractor Support o Prepare bid documentation and assist in the contractor selection process, including specifications and equipment evaluations.
