SUMMARY Cavendish Fire District #2 is seeking bids from qualified contractors for Energy and ADA improvements to the historic Fire Station building, located at 2154 Main Street in Cavendish. The purpose of the project is to increase energy conservation and efficiency, while reducing fossil fuel use, greenhouse gas emissions, and operating costs. The Fire District is issuing separate requests for bids (RFBs) for the replacement/refurbishment of the windows, the installation of a heat pump system for the building, and the final design and construction of a solar carport. An electrician is already under contract for the lighting and general electrical work. Contractors are welcome to respond to any (or all) of the RFBs. Federal Build America, Buy America (BABA) and Davis-Bacon requirements do not apply. The Agreement form for this project shall be AIA A104 - 2107, Standard Abbreviated Form of Agreement Between Owner and Contractor. SCOPE OF WORK Energy Improvements The energy improvement portion of the project includes all the envelope work (except for window replacement/refurbishment) described in the Cavendish FD Energy Improvements construction documents provided by Stevens & Associates, including but not limited to air sealing, insulating the walls and the fire hose shaft, installing wallboard in apparatus bay #1, installing insulated and swinging doors as indicated on the door schedule, and an insulated horizontal door to access the attic. All work shall be performed in accordance with the construction documents and Vermonts ADA Improvements Most of the demolition work for this project is related to the ADA scopes. Because the project is being funded with a Municipal Energy Resilience Program (MERP) grant awarded by the Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS), the Fire District cannot spend more than 20% of project funds on ADA work. For this reason, the following ADA scopes are listed on the bid form as alternates and will only be included in the contracted work if cost estimates are within the specified limits.
