The project is in the preconstruction phase and the goal is to bring on a General Contractor (GENERAL CONTRACTOR (LUMP SUM)) to provide cost estimating and constructability review throughout the design process. PROJECT DESCRIPTION The Pueblo County High School (PCHS) wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) requires an expansion to accommodate an increase in hydraulic and organic loading. Currently, the WWTF is made up of a 40,000-gallon primary/equalization tank, 10,000-gallon pre-anoxic tank, two Orenco Ax-Max units (one model Ax-Max250, one model Ax-Max200), a post-anoxic MBBR, and an Orenco polishing filter unit. Ultraviolet disinfection, alkalinity dosing, and carbon dosing occur in the existing controls building. The proposed upgrades to the WWTF will consist of removing, retaining, and adding components to the process. The new facility will employ the existing primary tank (converting all volume to primary treatment), a new 35,000-gallon equalization tank, the existing pre-anoxic tank, five Orenco Ax-Max units acting as stage 1 treatment (3 additional Ax-Max250s, 1 existing Ax-Max250, 1 additional AxMax200), one Orenco Ax-Max unit acting as stage 2 treatment (1 existing Ax-Max200), the existing MBBR, and the existing Orenco polishing filter. The ultraviolet disinfection system will be removed and replaced with chlorine disinfection. Alkalinity and carbon dosing will remain. A chlorine contact pipe loop will be installed prior to final discharge to the existing leach field to the east of the WWTF location. Renovations to the existing controls building will also be required, including but not limited to replacing the dry-wall in the building. Construction will occur primarily while the school is not in session during the summer months. It is critical that the majority of construction is completed by the start of the school year in late summer so there are no interruptions to typical school operations.
