Reference Number 0000287197 Question Acceptance Deadline 2025/02/19 01:00:00 PM PST Bid Intent Deadline 2025/02/14 01:00:00 PM PST This RFQ is being issued to identify a Proponent to enter into a non-exclusive Contract between a Proponent and TRIUMF INC. (“TRIUMF”) to supply components for three (3) sets of steel shielding parts for the ARIEL target stations. The Advanced Rare Isotope Laboratory (ARIEL) is a CFI-funded project involving the construction of two target stations that require several tons of dense material (e.g. steel) to reduce the radiation dose to a minimum in areas accessible by personnel. The scope of work is the fabrication of two (2) sets of shielding plug parts for the ARIEL target modules, and the fabrication of one (1) set of parts for the ARIEL gamma dump module. The main function of these assemblies is to shield nearby areas from the high radiation dose that is generated by our particle accelerator, and to provide the necessary cooling paths for heat removal. The present work consists of the manufacture and delivery of steel shield blocks, totaling approximately 47,000 kg. Parts are primarily ATSM A36 steel but also include AISI 1045, AISI 304, and ASTM A514 and will be zinc thermal spray coated or otherwise corrosion protected after fabrication. Moreover, the parts shall be arranged in the shipping container in a predefined orientation. Detailed specifications and requirements are provided in Appendix F - Scope of Work. This request for quotation includes only major steel parts of these assemblies, while the assembly process will happen at TRIUMF after shipment. After receipt at TRIUMF, the shield blocks will be assembled with various other mechanical, vacuum, gas, water, and electronic components to produce "modules." Completed modules will subsequently be installed in the ARIEL facility. Official bid documents must be obtained from www.merx.com and bid submissions must be done through the Merx platform.
