Gilbane Building Company, Construction Manager, for and acting on behalf Elgin District U-46 is receiving lump sum proposal forms from interested contractors for the Summer 2025 Critical Work, New Additions, and Existing Renovations to Existing Kimball Middle School. The project at Kimball will commence in March 2025 and complete in July 2026. Administration Area will be relocated to the existing Auditorium, existing classrooms will be renovated and upgraded with new flooring, ceilings, and lights along with new HVAC System. Other interior spaces will include a remodeled Band and Choral Wing with new instrument storage and interior finishes. New state-of-art of the kitchen will be incorporated into an addition extending into the new Cafetorium with stage area. A second addition will compromise of the new auxiliary gym with equipment with a remodel of the current auxiliary gym into a fitness center. To the north, a new staircase will be erected to access north portion of the school. Site upgrades will include new sidewalks to the school property together with the surrounding neighborhoods, new entrance to school with bus turnaround to the north and upgrades to the south lot to better serve the students, parents, and staff. Finally, to the connect the new to existing, a brand new courtyard will be constructed within the center for learning, exploration and solace for students and staff. This bid release is for the low voltage cabling and devices for internet for student usage. This project will follow the State of Illinois E-Rate guidelines and specific breakdown for quantities and cost are required as part of the submission.
