Adjustment of Structures. The work under this contract consists of the adjustment of manholes, catch basins and gate boxes on various streets. Construction Methods: The Contractor shall raise the existing frames of the manholes and catch basins to the proposed new paving grade. The frames shall be set on a brick and concrete base and shall be encased in hot mix asphalt or cement concrete at the inspectors direction, to within one and one-half (1 16) inches of the top of the casting. The water gate boxes shall be adjusted and set in hot mix asphalt. Grades shall be established by the Department of Public Services.Structures to be rebuilt shall be done with materials (brick, block, etc.) of the same kind as the original structure unless approved different by the Inspector for the Department of Public ServicesConcrete barrel blocks shall be eight (8) inches deep, sixteen (16) inches long and five and onehalf (5 16) inches high in size, set in a full bed of concrete and all keyways filled completely. Bricks shall be set in a fan shape, (soldier course) in a full bed of mortar and shall be parged inside the structure after the frame has been set. All inverts, tables and pipes shall be inspected and cleaned after adjustment of frames.
