This project is being let using the single prime bidding and contracting process. DFD will publicly bid the applicable mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEP) divisions of work first. Within 5 days of the MEP bid opening, DFD will identify a lowest, qualified, responsible, certified bidder in each applicable MEP division of work. These successful MEP bids must be included in all general prime contractor bids received. No later than 5 days after DFD identifies the successful MEP bids, DFD will publicly open general prime contractor bids. General prime contractor bids that do not include the successful MEP bids will be rejected. The state will enter into a single contract with the lowest, qualified, responsible, certified general prime contractor and this general prime contractor will enter into subcontracts with the successful MEP bidders. If a project does not include any mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or fire protection divisions of work, DFD will bid one bid package for all work to general prime contractors In general, the work consists of: The removal of approximately 37,539 sq.ft. of the existing coal tar pitch built-up roof system, related flashings, and related sheet metal components on Roof Areas 1, 4, 9-11 and approximately 4,667 sq.ft. of the existing asphalt built-up roof system, related flashings, and related sheet metal components on Roof Areas 5 and 6. A new vapor barrier shall be installed atop the prepared concrete roof deck and a new tapered insulation system shall be installed atop the prepared steel roof deck and atop the new vapor barrier at areas with a concrete roof deck. A new fully-adhered EPDM membrane and related flashings shall then be installed. New roof-related sheet metal components shall be installed on all roof areas within scope. The louver adjacent to Roof Area 4 shall be modified to accommodate new roofing insulation thickness by removing existing louver section, installing a non-combustible knee wall assembly to support remaining louver sections, installation of new louver flashing and sheet metal, and installation of EPDM roof flashing as required.
