The base bid consists of the rehabilitation of approximately 4.08 miles of roadways throughout the City. This project is part of Local Road Improvement Program. BID SECURITY: Bid security in the amount of not less than 5% of the bidder ís maximum bid price and in the form of a bid bond, certified check or cashiers check (payable to the City of New Berlin) is required with the bid. RIGHT TO REJECT BIDS: The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids, the right to waive irregularities and informalities in bidding, the right to disregard all nonconforming, non-responsive, unbalanced or conditional bids, and the right to accept the bid which best serves the in terests of the City. CONTRACT SECURITY: The bidder to whom a Contract is awarded shall furnish Performance and Payment Bonds for the full amount of the Contract within 10 days of award or execution of the Contract. The Performance and Payment Bonds shall contain a provision to increase the Performance Bonds by the amount of any change orders that might increase the amount of the Contract price. If such bidder fails to execute and file such Contract, Performance and Payment Bonds, within the ten day period, the check, bond, or bank draft accompanying the bid shall be forfeited to the City of New Berlin as liquidated damages. BID WITHDRAWAL: The City reserves the right to postpone the award of the contract and no bids shall be withdrawn for a period not exceeding 60 days after the date and time set forth in the Bid Opening. The City further reserves the right to retain the bid security of the three (3) lowest bidders during that time. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The project consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, and materials necessary to perform the work as called out on the plans. The work consists of the following: pavement removal by milling or pulverizing, base repair, curb and gutter repair, manhole adjustments, removal of excess pulverized material, grading, and placing asphalt. Approximate quantities of work are estimated as follows: Curb & Gutter Repairs 1700 L.F. Asphalt Pavement 20,000 TON Milling Aphalt 22,000 S.Y. Pulverizing Asphalt 37,000 S.Y. Common Excavation 4,000 C.Y. Culvert Replacement 240 L.F. Manhole & Inlet Repair 3 EA Time for Start of Work and Completion The City of New Berlin is requesting that the work start no later than May 27, 2025 and be completed by October 24, 2025. After October 24, 2025, a fee of $250.00 per calendar day will be charged to the Contractor for inspection services. The anticipated Contract Award date and Notice to Proceed date for this Contract will be April 21, 2025. Once the Contractor begins work under this Contract, the work shall continue until complete.
