The Village of Worden, Illinois, has received a Federal Grant for the purpose of making sidewalk improvements throughout the Village. The funds will be used for Preliminary Engineering, Construction and Construction Engineering. The Village is soliciting proposals from interested Consulting Engineers qualified to complete the Preliminary Engineering and Construction Engineering Services for the following described project: 1. At locations within the Village where sidewalks are important for pedestrian use and where the existing sidewalks are deteriorated, the project will replace those sections of sidewalk. The extent of this work will be limited by the budget for the project. 2. The project will be administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation in accordance with the Safe Routes to Schools Program. The project will involve development of a Project Report, approved by FHWA; preparation of detailed Plans, Specification and Bidding Documents in accordance with the Illinois Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction (latest edition), also approved by FHWA; and construction of the project under the direction of a Resident Engineer. All Federal and State procedures must be followed for acquisition of right- of-way/easements, including Environmental Clearance as required. The deadline for having these funds obligated is September 30, 2026. The above steps must be completed by this date. Securing FHWA approval, obtaining Environmental Clearances, preparing for and attending meetings established by others and other items outside the control ofthe Village or Consultant may create problems in reaching the above deadline. The total budget for the project is $408,250.00.
