This project proposes street section improvements for approximately 2,250 linear feet of South Walter Ree d Drive between 5th Street South and Columbia Pike. The scope of work includes multi-modal street improvements that consist of protected bicycle lanes, sidewalks, re-alignment of street intersections, driveways aprons, regrading of street section with full depth asphalt replacement, milling and paving, landscaped medians, installation of floating island bus stops, and associated storm sewer drainage infrastructure as well as pavement striping, marking and signage associated with the street improvement work. The intersection of 9th Street S and S Walter Ree d Drive including installation of the signal infrastructure will be completed first, and is designated as Phase 1. The project also includes street trees along the whole street section improvements which will be installed under separate contract. The scope for this project shall include, but is not limited to, coordination with adjacent developments including the Arlington Public Schools development along the western frontage between 7th Street South and 9th Street South, as well as with the Arlington County Columbia Pike Streets project at the project limits. The Contractor shall provide all resources to successfully perform the terms of this contract in accordance with project plans, and in compliance with Arlington County and VDOT Standards and Specifications. The Contractor shall perform the work complete, in place, tested, and ready for continuous service. All work within the VDOT Right-Of-Way shall be performed in accordance with the VDOT Standards and Specifications, unless otherwise noted.
