This project will replace a 400-ton water cooled chiller and cooling tower with a modern air-cooled chiller. The current chiller has cooled the entire Western Service Center since the building was originally constructed in 1991. This chiller is nearing the end of its usable life and replacement parts are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. This project will remove the current chiller from the basement and the cooling tower from its enclosure on the west side of the property. The cooling tower enclosure will be expanded and reused to enclose the new air- cooled chiller. Prevailing wages are required on this project. Bids must be submitted only on the bid form supplied in this RFB document. No oral, telegraphic or telephonic bids or modifications will be considered. Submit with each bid a certified check or acceptable bidders bond payable to Dakota County in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total base bid. The successful bidder is required to furnish satisfactory Labor and Material Payment Bond and Performance Bond equal to 100% of the total contract amount. Bids may not be withdrawn within sixty (60) days after the opening bids. It is anticipated that the Dakota County Board of Commissioners will consider award of the project on May 20, 2025 at its regular meeting, and reserves the right to accept any bid or to reject any or all bids, or parts of such bids, and waive informalities or irregularities in bidding. The estimated construction cost is $1,800,000. The Owner requires Substantial Completion of the project by April 24, 2026.
