The Borough of Caldwell is seeking proposals from qualified professional engineering firms to provide engineering design and land surveying services for roadway improvements and stormwater drainage design on a road in the Borough of Caldwell. The selected engineering firm will prepare plans and specifications complete and with sufficient detail that said plans and specifications could be used to advertise for public bidding. All proposals shall also provide an accurate construction proposal (engineers estimate) as part of the design effort. The road within the Borough which is to be improved is as follows: Chestnut Street The scope of work for this project shall include any/all work required for the preparation of plans and specifications for a project which will be "Resurfacing and Drainage Improvements for Chestnut Street". All plans and details shall be accordance with the New Jersey Department of Transportation Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2019 and as Amended by the Supplemental Specifications shall govern this Construction. All signage and striping shall be in accordance with Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) 2009 Revision 3. The Borough has been awarded a $50,000.00 grant from the County of Essex Department of Economic Development, Division of Housing and Community Development (CDBG). The anticipated scope of work requested at this time is as follows. 1. Remove and replace any/all existing damaged sidewalk and curb ramps. (See attached Inspection Guide) 2. Remove and replace any/all existing damaged full face and drop curb. 3. Remove and replace any/all existing damaged driveway aprons. 4. Mill up to 3 inches of existing pavement and repave the entire roadway with HMA 9.5M64 Surface Course (Oak Grove Road to the Limit of existing pavement at the end of Chestnut) 5. Design a subsurface stormwater drainage detention system and outlet structure that will store as much stormwater as feasible. Provide enough details, profiles and sections for biding and construction of this system. 6. Since this is a CDBG project all specifications must include the supplemental specifications as per HUD.
