The existing water treatment plant was built in 1984, and in 2019 was gone through major upgrades as interim solution to increase the quality and quantity of the community drinking water until the new water treatment plant could be designed and constructed. Blueberry River First Nations (BRFN) is now exploring its options for replacing/upgrading the existing community water treatment plant. The services of a qualified engineering consultant are required for conducting a feasibility study including surveying, geotechnical assessment, stormwater management study, hydrological assessment, drainage study, preliminary design and cost estimates for design and construction project. The feasibility study will investigate and look into options for treatment methodology, approximate equipment sizing and location of the future water treatment plant meeting the following objectives (it should be noted credits will be given to the options/proposals to effectively reusing existing infrastructure). It is our understanding that the initial plan for the new water treatment plant, developed in 2019, involved constructing a new building to increase capacity by relocating the existing treatment stream to the new facility. As part of this feasibility study, further exploration and analysis of potential options are required, however it should be noted that there is no need to investigate alternative water sources or treatment processes, unless new information has emerged from prior upgrades or indication that the current wells are no longer adequate).
