Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Watkinsville, Georgia. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; for paving for a bridge / tunnel; religious / funeral development; sidewalk / parking lot; and sidewalk / parking lot.

Construction and installation of approximately 250 linear feet of ADA - compliant pedestrian and bicycle friendly, concrete sidewalk (ranging in width from 10 - foot wide to 8- foot wide) on City of Watkinsville Parcels W 09 004A and C 03 022A. Work to include construction of a new 105 linear feet 10 ft wide pedestrian bridge with 3 concrete abutments. Also extension of existing 12" RCP near Watkinsville Cemetery and new 18" RCP on the western side of the bridge as part of the Simonton Bridge Road/Mulberry Connector Project. All work shall be to the Georgia Department of Tr ansportation specifications and include the installation of ADA compliant handicap ramps where required along the route. Traffic control is to be provided by the contractor throughout the entire construction period. Construction of these sidewalk segments will further facilitate safe travel for citizens and visitors alike. This pedestrian bridge, abutments and associated sidewalks will be final current phase of the city ' s Simonton Bridge Connector project, which will connect Simonton Place subdivision to downtown Watkinsville, including historic Rocket Field and Oconee Cul tural Arts Foundation ( OCAF). Given the high - profile nature of this project and its location as a gateway to the city , the city expects the bridge structure to serve as a landmark for th e city. As such, while the city will accept bridge designs that are purely functional, Watkinsville is seeking designs that also reflect the history, creative s pirit and existing ar chitecture. The city ' s goal with this bridge is to ensure safe passage of two - way b ic ycle and pedestrian traffic between downtown and the Thomas Farm Preserve while creat ing a space that encourages non -a utomotive travel by citizens and visitors due to tis design. This bridge should engage users to app reciate the wetlands being bridged and crea te a dynamic impressive for travelers entering the city along the Simonton Bridge corridor. While the bridge will not need to accommodate auto motive traffic it will need to be able to handle side by side or golf - cart type traffic from city crews for maintenance.
