Renovation of an educational facility in Chicago, Illinois. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Questions Due Date: Feb 28th 2025, 1:30 PM CST *Only Prequalified* Various Trades All questions/requests must be received in writing by 3/10/2025. Email questions to PM Chinmay Sawalkar (cpsawalkar@cps.edu) and CC Adam Pinter (aapinter@cps.edu). Construction is required to be completed during the CPS Summer break 2025. The earliest start date is 6/16/25. Expected construction duration is 7 weeks. The required Preliminary Acceptance date is 8/1/25. Overview: The Bond Elementary School is located southwest of Chicago downtown, off EB I-94. The project includes painting and floor replacement work inside the Main and Annex Buildings in areas listed here. The existing floor tiles on the second floor of the newer building need to be abated and replaced with new VCT tiles. Railings and stringers of the Stairs in the Main (older) Building need to be stripped and painted. Include refinishing the wood strips atop the railings. Patch where required and paint the corridor walls at the first and second floor of both buildings. There are 3 alternates to be included in the work scope as shown on the next page. These tasks items include carpet replacement to VCT tiles in room 101B; wall painting in Room 101; and wall painting in areas 101B, 101C and 101D. Refer to Environmental Reports and Design Manual by TEM Inc. for abatement work to be performed by licensed subcontractor. 2nd floor tiles in the newer addition are hazardous and must be abated. Existing paint is assumed to be lead containing and the painting work must be performed by RRP certified vendor. Scope: BASE BID 1. Remove and replace hazardous floor tiles on the 2nd floor of the newer building. Abatement work is required and it must be performed by licensed subcontractor under supervision of MEC TEM's personnel. Follow state laws and Environmental Design Manual for proper disposal of removed materials. Color of the new VCT tiles to be selected by the Principal. Approximate quantity 4,000 SF. 2. Strip existing paint and repaint stair railings and stringers at the Main (older) building. Refinish existing wood strips above the railing where present. Match the existing colors. Approx. quantity 250 If. 3. Patch where required and paint the existing corridor walls at the first and second floor of both buildings. Existing paint is assumed to be lead containing and contractor must employ RRP certified vendor to do this painting work. New color to be selected by the school. Approximate surface area is 15,000 SF. Scope: ALTERNATES Alternate 1. - Replace Room 101B carpet to VCT tiles. Work includes removal of existing white board. Removed materials must be properly disposed. Alternate 2 - Patch and Paint Walls in Room 101. Follow RRP procedures. Alternate 3 - Patch and Paint Walls in Rooms 101B, 101C and 101D. Follow RRP procedures. ASBESTOS ABATEMENT: Gross removal and disposal of asbestos containing floor tile, mastic and any underlying skim coatings complete from second floor corridor per specification 02 82 14 and all applicable IDPH, EPA, OSHA and City of Chicago regulations. (See abatement Key Note (C) for location of work).
