DAS Construction Services - Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) Bullard Havens Technical High School, 500 Palisade Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06610 The Work includes construction as indicated on the construction documents. Construction of a 214,508 square foot, three-story tall new high school building is the primary component of the project. Four detached structures shall also be constructed as part of the project: a 12,291 SF garage, a 2,553 square foot field house, a 40 square foot guard house and a 40 square foot ticket booth. The education programming includes vocational education for thirteen different disciplines in addition to the traditional educational programs. The high school building is a new noncombustible (Type 1B) construction with concrete foundations, structural steel framing and decking, concrete slabs on deck, and concrete masonry unit wall construction. The exterior skin is a combination of architectural concrete masonry unit veneer, metal panels, and glazed storefronts. Punched windows have sun shading devices on the south and west facades and some fiberglass sandwich panel glazing is being provided in limited areas. Roofing is a single ply fleeceback TPO membrane. Level 3 ballistic glazing will be provided at the main entrance and one side entrance. Most of the new school will be served by geothermal well fields that feed water source heat pumps for heating and cooling. The eastern technical shops will be served by energy recovery ventilation (ERV) systems for heating and will not feature cooling. Air handling units (AHU's) also serve spaces throughout the building construction. Dust collection systems and compressed air systems are provided in some technical shops, make up air units are provided on the roof for the commercial kitchen, and split systems are provided for additional cooling in spaces such as IDF closets. All systems are designed to meet Connecticut High Performance building standards. The garage building is a pre-engineered metal building (type 5B construction) on cast-in place concrete foundation. A limited height masonry veneer wall construction is along the perimeter walls for durability. ERV, VRF and radiant heating panels systems serve this building. The field house (type 5 B construction) utilizes aesthetically similar construction materials as the high school and an ERV system serves this building. The guard house and ticket booth are small single spaces shelters. For all buildings, life safety systems are designed per the 2018 CT State Building Code. The high school and bus garage buildings will be sprinklered. Illuminated exit signage, egress path designations, emergency lighting, and life safety signage shall be provided per code requirements in all buildings. All buildings and site are fully accessible. Sitework and landscaping will redevelop the existing site. A new football/soccer field surrounded by a running track with sports lighting and a scoreboard is provided with adjacent bleachers, a limited use limited access lift and press box. Baseball and softball fields with scoreboards are also provided. Abatement and demolition of the existing high school is also within the project scope.
