Renovation of a municipal facility in Blythe, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

This project constructs a new Border Protection Station west of the existing California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Blythe Border Station inside the California/Arizona state line. This project will specifically include five (5) vehicle inspection lanes, a vehicle inspection building (VIB) of approximately 4,040 GSF and four (4) truck inspection lanes and a truck inspection building (TIB) of approximately 2,860 GSF. There are three (3) canopy structures spanning the vehicle and the preliminary truck inspection lanes. Supporting site improvements will include transitioning to the new nine (9) lane Border Protection Station from westbound I-10 and then again back to I-10. The project will also require Department of Transportation (Caltrans) I-10 improvements, frontage road improvements, a new off/on ramp from westbound I-10 to East Hobsonway (west of the Border Protection Station), photovoltaic array, site utility improvements, storm detention basin, landscape, irrigation and signing and striping. The project is currently in the working drawing phase. The Construction Project will be bid in two (2) phases: (1) Hobsonway Road Realignment in which the City of Blythe is the Authority Having Jurisdiction and (2) CDFA Station and I-10 Improvements which includes two (2) separate and integrated drawing packages. The CDFA Station Improvements' AHJs are the State Fire Marshall for fire life and safety, and Division of State Architects for Access Compliance, and the I-10 Improvement's AHJ is Caltrans. The current schedule reflects the following milestones: Phase I- Hobsonway Road Re-Alignment: Bid Period: Start- December 2025 and End- April 2026 Construction: Start- April 2026 and End-February 2028 Remarks: Southern California Edison (SCE) Pole Relocation by SCE forecasted to start in December 2026 and End- April 2027. The New Electrical Service from the relocated poles to the new transformers is part of the Phase I Construction. Phase II- CDFA and I-10 Improvements: . Bid Period: Start- December 2025 and End- June 2026 Construction: Start- June 2026 and End-September 2028 The estimated cost of construction is approximately $90,000,000.00.
